yes you can use mods in the sims, but you put them in the installation folder C:/Program Files (x86)/Maxis/The Sims/Downloads instead of in your documents like the newer sims game.

Thank you! Everything worked perfectly, there are some minor hiccups but nothing game breaking. This game gives me such nostalgia

My start.exe file won’t run at all. It says it’s running in my task manager but I don’t have the installation window anywhere.

I don’t know if this works for everyone, but i had the same issue and i just started in my case sims 4 and then it would pop up! I don’t know why it is like that but try starting a different game after starting the start.exe

So I did hit a few issues after installing the game. None keep me from playing the game but they are annoying and I would like to fix them.

1: Whenever I start the game, it spams the error of “disc not found”, but when I click cancel 3-4 times it loads the game up no problem anyways. So I think it’s just spamming the error and nothing else. Would need to find out how to make that stop.

2: Resolution. I need to find a way to make the resolution bigger. It’s running at 800×600 and I’m not sure how high I can get it on my 1920×1080 monitor. I did find a mod but it would require me to overwrite the cracked exe. I would appreciate the help.

And now I can’t even uninstall it!! What the heck seriously dude…says “unknown error encountered…aborting setup” . So that’s great! Waste of storage space, I don;t know how to remove this ugh

Hi, I tried to do this for Windows 10, followed the steps exactly. But the crack file couldn’t “replace”. Kept saying that it had to be added to my desktop. And when I click it, it says “Fatal Error. Couldn’t Find the Sims data directory”. Not sure what I did wrong as everything was working smoothly up until I had to replace the crack file. It just won’t replace :/

I had this problem at first too but if you copy that file (from the crack file) and then go to the x86 file and paste it, it will ask if you want to replace it and then you can go from there. Hope this helped.

I was also having this issue, but finally was able to get the “replace” screen. However, when I click to launch the game, it again says I need to extract the files, and I am stuck in this vicious circle. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Hi! It keeps saying “The installshield engine (ikernel.exe) could not be installed.
    Ikernel.exe could not be copied to ‘C:program fils(x86)commonfilesinstallshieldengine6intel 32’.
Make sure that you have the appropriate privileges to copy files to this folder. (0x20)”

    Help please?

I got it working on Windows 10 so far. It did get stuck in the endless loop in the beginning where it runs through and loads each expansion pack, but after following step 8 it worked.

I had a glitch where none of the products were shown in B/B mode and a black shadow box appeared, but that all went away when I restarted the game.

If you are confused which files are referenced in the instructions (like start.exe) just use the file with that name even if it doesn’t show the .exe part. None of mine did which made it a little confusing, but you can tell by the file type and the name and hopefully it will work for you!

You could try googling other serial codes to use. Any that were made to be used with the complete collection originally should work, since this game isn’t registered online and therefore they wouldn’t get ‘claimed’ like they do for newer games
