Whenever I click the install button, a pop up comes up and says “Unknown error encountered, Aborting setup”, can someone help me please?

I have tried to get the game running, and it does not seem to want to work, even messing around with the compatibility settings and running the troubleshooter does nothing – I have opened the Task Manager and I see a program is suspended, but I don’t know how (or if I am even supposed to) fix this. Can anyone maybe give some insight into why this is happening?

For some reason if I try to transfer the Sims Crack file into the ‘The Sims’ file, it only transfers as a shortcut? It won’t transfer as a file, any advice with what to do? I’ve reinstalled the game about 5 times now and am stuck at this step with no solution.

Whenever I hit Alt + Tab, or exit the game and come back, I’m met with a black screen. Anyone know how to fix this?

The Sims 1 is buggy with alt+tab manuever. If you need to open another program while playing TS1, then I suggest you to run the game in windowed mode.

Thank you for the help. A new problem has risen however. Windowed mode is too small and it won’t allow me to transform it in anyway. It looks like a Windows 7 window, but if I put my cursor near the edges, the usual double arrows for stretching don’t appear. Anyway to fix this?

Yeah, the minus of using windowed mode is that. You cant edge scrolling. All you have to do is hold right-click while your mouse moving, to navigate around.

If your window is too small, go to the properties of shortcut (where you set the windowed mode), and in Target, type this:

          Sims.exe” -w -r1024x768

I have 2 issues. If I Alt + Tab or exit game, I come back to a black screen, and after a few days of normal gameplay, the next time I boot it up, the screen is stretched across my entire display instead of square. I can’t find a way to fix these issues, so I’m going to attempt to download it again.
