The game for me worked for weeks, then suddenly crashed and there was no sims.exe anywhere on the computer. It said “could not find data directory” so I uninstalled and then reinstalled and when reinstalling it installs everything but sims.exe saying “access denied” I dont know what to do.

This video was a huge help, thank you! I could not get the “start” exe or Setup to work, but as explained in the video all I had to do was go into Task Manager and end the start.exe process. Then Setup worked!

A notification first pops up with “It has co me to our attention that you have installed another Sims expansion pack after the Sims makin’ magic. For this to work properly, The Sims makin magic installer will now update your installation. Select OK to proceed” and when I click OK another one pops up saying “To continue with the installation, please insert disk 1 of the sims makin magic into the CD-ROM drive and then click OK. Help pls :'(

i think you guys should ask them to please reinstall the game on their site and upload the compressed generated program file for the game so we will just run the application once the download is over, no need for installing again…

I have found running up a VM of WinXP using Oracle VM VirtualBox the best way to run this game.
Makes backwards compatibility so much better when running very old games.
