Thanks for this, installation worked perfectly 🙂 However, when I enter any lot in the game, the whole lot is black; portions of the lot only appear when hovered over or when a Sim is walking. I tried running the game in compatibility mode and changing the resolution, but didn’t seem to work. Any ideas?

After a whole lot of suffering I actually downloaded the game and it runs! I had to download the Windows XP to run on Virtualbox and everything (cuz I have a mac) but it runs. PROBLEM is that it has no sound… Like when I press start icon when I have to select to play and on which resolution (800×400 or something) I can hear the music. When I press start and it’s on the loading screen I can hear the music too for like 2 seconds and then it automatically stops every time. No sound after that. Does anyone know a solution to this?

I’ve tried the serial # in the post as well as the comments, neither work :/ any suggestions? Help would be appreciated!

    EDIT!!

I was reading the code incorrectly, Z7SD, starts with a Z as in Zebra, 4XU5, ends with the number 5, hope this helps someone!

Note: In the extreme off chance that someone else is using Windows 2000, you have to actually delete the sims launcher icon in the main folder and then copy and paste the cd crack. Seems to be working flawlessly for me otherwise!

I followed the steps and it launches, but any of the pop ups like the look for job pop up don’t come up, and i also can’t see any objects or their descriptions in build/buy

Important for anyone with the error saying ‘please insert cd rom’!
Try Step 5 of the instructions, if that doesn’t work, then I don’t know.
However, make sure when you do Step 5 that you copy the file into the game directory that you installed the game into. If this is the default directory, then it is C:Program Files(x86)MaxisThe Sims.Just replace Sims.exe, see Step 5 for more.

I did it exactly as said, still have the error! Maybe it has something to do with my laptop not having a dvd player, who knows?
