Thank you for this. I had to add 3 steps after step 4.

    *Exit the app after installation.
*Allow advanced permissions to the Maxis directory in which the game is installed under Programs (86) to allow me to add or make changes to get the Sims.exe transferred to replace the game’s version.
*3rd additional step was to rename the original Sims.exe file to archive it. Only then was I able to get to your step 5 by copying and pasting (dragging only created a shortcut) the playable exe file before moving onto your step 6.

This is still Windows 10. I dread what will happen should I update to Windows 11 😄

I was able to get to the point to install the games by entering the code (and it worked for me) but when I open start.exe and press play and which version it never opens whether I open the file as administrator or not

You’ve got to use the method explained by Microsoft Support’s article: “View hidden files and folders in Windows.” Only then will you be able to see that directory under Program Files (86). Do not delete the folder, but you should delete all the files within. Admin permissions will be required. (Edit) This method may only be needed if you’ve installed then removed the Sims 1 Collection. If you never installed the game, this may be a different issue for you.

try copying each section and pasting it into the game, thats what i did and it worked. example: highlight
EQMV and paste it into the first line.
