if you used the start file it will say that when you clik play, you should do it with the sims.exe file that by default is located like this C:Program Files (x86)MaxisThe Sims

You should try runing as administrator and with the compatibility this website says but I think windows 7 compatibility works too, I had a colour problem that I fixed executing it in 16 bit colour

Okay, this is how I got it to work. Go to Local Disk, and then click on Program Files(x86). Go to Maxis, click on “The Sims” folder. Right click on Sims.exe and rename it to “sims.old” without quotation marks. Do not add the application(the game itself) to your desktop screen as a shortcut, because clicking on the shortcut will cause your computer to say fatal error. If you want to play the game, you’re gonna have to go into the The Sims folder and run the game as administrator.

couldn’t get it running with start.exe so head to set up folder and launch setup.exe. the code may be not working so try this one instead: BYNW-EUXH-Z3D2-GS5J-CPF9

When I try to run it says “Fatal Error: Could not find The Sims data directory”. I installed but the registration option did not pop up. This is what happens now when I click the setup.exe or the play through the Sims Crack folder.

I had make sure to run as administrator but I wasn’t replacing the file correctly in the last step. Make sure you go to windows and 86 program files or whatever the install directions say.

Usually this is because you ran the “start.exe” first and it is now clogging up the process. Make sure it is gone by using the task manager and shutting it off, then restart your pc just to make sure. then go to the setup folder inside the game files and run the “setup.exe” and you should be fine.

i tried that, game doesn’t open. after a while i just gave up and wiped the files from my laptop. i might try again at a later date tho. and let smarter people than me figure things out.

From what I’ve seen in sims 2, maybe clicking the run option will make it work.
