I played it in my teens more than 15 years ago.
The name of the game is Star Ixion, it was a spaceship simulator in which you had to defend several planets in the galaxy.

was such an underrated game and was a staple of late gen z era nfs games. it no longer has a way to purchase it anywhere online anymore and multiplayer got stripped from the game 2 years ago.
I played it on ps2 but a search on Wikipedia revealed that it was also for ps3 and xbox
