How to play on Windows
- Click on the download button. It should redirect you to your download. Make sure you download the file properly and that your internet does not disconnect while downloading.
- While waiting for your download, make sure that you have a software called Daemon Tools installed on your computer.
- Extract the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder to your desktop.
- Drag the folder to your C:// disc on your computer.
- Open the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.
Instructions for The Battle for Middle Earth 2
- Open the folder called BFME2 and then the folder called BFME2 Installer. Inside the BFME Installer folder, you want to double click on the file called AutoRun.exe and the installer for The Battle for Middle Earth 2 should launch. Go through the game setup – at some point they will ask you to insert a CD-key. Use any one of these and finish the installation:
- HNB3-GRYM-GLUS-HKTU-Y9V8
- XLWW-55XX-5MB8-Q6QJ-5JAP
- 42FP-FQES-GW72-MT37-MCGQ

- ATK3-5TTF-9HJH-3TRW-2F8F
- M9NN-6NWW-5VRB-5KLN-EVV3
- If you run the game now, they will ask you to insert a CD so it will not work. What you have to do, is open up the software called Daemon Tools and then select add a new drive. You want the virtual drive to be “SCSI” and then select “Add drive”. If this part is a bit complicated, watch the video below and you can see how I did it for clearer instructions. You then want to drag the “MI-BFME2.mds” file (it will be 9KB) into the empty drive on Daemon tools. Note: If Daemon Tools doesn’t work, then use WinCDEmu.
- The next step, is that you want to go back into the folder called “Game Files”. In here, you want to open the “Options.ini” file (double click it). You will see a line of code which says “Resolution = 1920 1080”. You want to change these numbers to the resolution of your computer, and then save the document.
- Next, you want to click on your start menu and then search for %appdata% and you want to click on the %appdata% folder. This is usually C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming. Inside this folder, you want to find the folder called “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files”. You want to open that folder, and then you want to copy, and then paste, the “Options.ini” file from step 3 into the “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files” folder.
- You can now run the game from the desktop shortcut, and the insert a CD message should go away.
- Enjoy the game!

I arrived at the last step, i launch the game (already installed and everything), after the first loading screen it just crashes.
same here
hello, i wanted to play multiplayer with my brother over the network and it is said that the serial does not work, is it possible to fix it somehow?
I’m trying to do step 3 but the installer says Please insert CD/DVD 1 in drive B:, so I skipped down to mounting virtual drives but it still doesnt work
Hi Arod. Have you unzipped the game in your OS (C:)??
Hey all, good update for those still searching. I found a forum post here (https://forums.revora.net/topic/105190-bfme1bfme2rotwk-games-download-installation-guide/) that walks through how to install really easily and without using any other mounting software, as Windows 10 has its own. The codes for BFME 2 worked from this site, though I had to find a separate video for ROTWK for a key there. Also recommend going through the patches, and then downloading Age of the Ring mod (https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-horse-lords-a-total-modification-for-bfme/downloads/age-of-the-ring-version-61). I’ve got it all up and running now and I’m really excited! If anyone from oldgamesdownload sees this, I’d recommend updating with the instructions from the posted forum.
you can download crack for both games from mega games and copy them to installation folders
It asks me to put In CD1 when I try to Install It, But there Is no Iso File for CD 1.
What should I do? Help would be much appreaciated.
I got an error when downloading the autorun file it always gets to 15% and says ‘a problem occurred when trying to transfer the file’
did anyone else have this issue/know how to fix it?
I downloaded the base game no problem, but there was no extra MDS file on the expansion that i could drag into DAEMON lite. I followed everything from your very helpful video and it seems that i cannot get the expansion because of this. Any tips/help would be appreciated.
I’m having issues as well. It keeps telling me to insert a disc into the disc drive despite me following directions to a T. It says it wants it in the C: Drive which is impossible, so I can’t make a c drive on my daemon tools. Not sure how to get past this.
i get the same error too
I have installed it but after clicling the finish part… stated that the code execution canot proceed because D3DX9_27.DLL was not found
What should i do
Hey Hazim,
I encountered the same problem. Check out this link:
https://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showtopic=967901
Looks like it is due to DirextX Runtime needed an update installed. This seems to have worked for me.
The download worked fine for me. I played it that day. But now the two drives that i created in daemon lite are gone and the game won’t start. Do I just repeat the installation procces??
Yeah you have to remount the 8kb/9kb files on the drives each time from what I saw on my old computer.
So I was able to install it on my old laptop by using DT Lite as was explained…however I just got a new computer and wanted to set it up there as well, which I promptly tried. However, I keep getting a prompt to inset a disc into drive ‘D’ once I click install on the autorun BFME2 program…’D’ is a HDD, not an optical drive. Is there some way to redirect the autorun to look at the disks I’ve mounted on DT Lite?
well i have same problem… so did you manage to solve it ?
I haven’t yet, unfortunately.
is there a reason why the folder “My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files” isnt there followed all the steps worked for bfme2 no problem ?
I can not use the SCSI drive (Insufficient resources to create target connection).
I had same problem but then I switched to WinCDEmu to mount a image and it worked fine for the games BFME2 or ROFWK.
hi! i switched too to wincdemu, it worked fine for bfme2, but rofwk still not running cause the error “pls, insert correct cd”, you had the same issue and you fixed it or not?
thanks!
