- Drag the folder to your C:// disc on your computer.
- Open the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.
Instructions for The Battle for Middle Earth 2
- Open the folder called BFME2 and then the folder called BFME2 Installer. Inside the BFME Installer folder, you want to double click on the file called AutoRun.exe and the installer for The Battle for Middle Earth 2 should launch. Go through the game setup – at some point they will ask you to insert a CD-key. Use any one of these and finish the installation:
- HNB3-GRYM-GLUS-HKTU-Y9V8

- ATK3-5TTF-9HJH-3TRW-2F8F
- M9NN-6NWW-5VRB-5KLN-EVV3
- If you run the game now, they will ask you to insert a CD so it will not work. What you have to do, is open up the software called Daemon Tools and then select add a new drive. You want the virtual drive to be “SCSI” and then select “Add drive”. If this part is a bit complicated, watch the video below and you can see how I did it for clearer instructions. You then want to drag the “MI-BFME2.mds” file (it will be 9KB) into the empty drive on Daemon tools. Note: If Daemon Tools doesn’t work, then use WinCDEmu.
- The next step, is that you want to go back into the folder called “Game Files”. In here, you want to open the “Options.ini” file (double click it). You will see a line of code which says “Resolution = 1920 1080”. You want to change these numbers to the resolution of your computer, and then save the document.
- Next, you want to click on your start menu and then search for %appdata% and you want to click on the %appdata% folder. This is usually C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming. Inside this folder, you want to find the folder called “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files”. You want to open that folder, and then you want to copy, and then paste, the “Options.ini” file from step 3 into the “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files” folder.
- You can now run the game from the desktop shortcut, and the insert a CD message should go away.
- Enjoy the game!

*ATTENTION*
For everyone that is facing the “insert CD into Drive:C” issue, you have to move ONLY the folder (and its files) called “BFME2 Installer” under C:/
If you move all subfolders as you downloaded the files (like BFME_202_20_2B_20Rise_20of_20the_20Witch_20King or BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King folder) under C:/ it won’t work.
I click autorun, then the install button then license agreement, then it says please insert cd/dvd 1 in drive. I click ok nothing happens, I mount one of the mountable files on here and then click ok and still nothing happens. Im a little at a lose
after the launcher opens it says please insert cd/dvd 1 in drive etc, I don’t know what to do from here
i go to daemon tools to change the drive but it only gives my the letters j and below i cant select c
i put it in local disc c and i still cant mount it on the c drive
it just asks please insert cd/dvd 1 in drive c, I have know Idea where to go from here
I followed all the steps and I can’t play. When I click to open the game, nothing happens.
IT’S WORKING FOR ME GUYS 2024 JUST DO THE STEPS YOU WILL NEED VITRUAL DRIVER TO GET RID OF CD MESSAGE
True! Just download Virtual CloneDrive or smth.
Actually you have to install following instructions WITHOUT VARIATIONS, so:
put the folder under C:
and then set compatibility mode on lotrbfme2.exe to windows 7
That worked for me.
Still no fix for nocd

You need to download directx9
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
I was able to do the step 4 (yes the folder is actually called like that) and I didnt get the no cd error. although all the cd keys doesnt work, so still cannot install the game
step 4 is completely ridiculous, there is no such folder in appdata…
same Did you find the solution?
By default, the appdata folder is hidden on Windows. You need to make sure you can view hidden folders.
Please insert CD/DVD 1 in drive C:
can’t install
Would be great if this got updated to work – can’t seem to get the download to run
It doesn’t work anymore.
