The game runs fine, but when I edit the Graphics Rules file to change the resolution, it changes it into a text document instead of remaining an SGR file. The game won’t run without the original file and it won’t recognise the new resolution as I can’t edit the original file. any advice?

You’re supposed to change it into a text document, then save it and replace the original file. If you try to do that and get a pop up saying something about not having permission, you save it in desktop, then move it to its original location THEN proceed to replace the original file with that copy. That’s what I did at least. Hope that helped!

It works really well! I’ve opened it and closed it three times so far and my fave files and everything works great – just like how I remember playing years ago! I had to jump through a few hoops but that’s just because of me, everything being well explained helped a lot! I recommend to anyone downloading this to keep track of your folders. I spent a long time trying to change the resolution but I obviously just had to go to my PC’s “program files (x86)” folder and found everything there. Happy gaming!

    Hi ,
i downloaded this but instead of a install screen i got a raf file which had no folders looks like a paper on the icon.
Not sure what happened, looks like it was downloaded as a file rather than a folder.

So the CC should go in
      “(drive letter, e.g. C, D, etc.):Documents and Settings(username)My DocumentsEA GamesThe Sims 2Downloads”
without the quote-marks. Also be sure to replace whatever is in the brackets with the things there that apply specifically to your computer, and without the brackets.

I was pretty much just following online tutorials, such as those provided on ModTheSims, on how to install CC for TS2, which is how I found out that’s the folder where CC for TS2 should go.

Another thing is the instructions here on this page make it pretty clear the game should always be run in admin mode. Now, I honestly couldn’t tell you whether or not that could possibly be causing peoples’ problems with CC that I’ve been hearing about from the version of the game on this site since I’ve been running it in admin mode every time I play, but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway just as a thing to keep an eye on.

Good simming, and I hope I was able to help you!

EDIT: You can place subfolders in the Downloads folder if you want to keep your CC a bit more organised! See “modthesims . info / t / 604652” (without the spaces or quote-marks) for more info on that

Hi, after following the instructions I try to run the game but I get the following message “Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system.” Even though I installed DirectX. I have Windows 10. How can solve this error? Thanks.

I think you should uninstall the directx u just installed and run the game again…cuz since it’s windows 10 u have it already has a solution for the problem, and after u open the game they would say “downloading windows 10 features” and then u should be good to go…🤙😅

I was wondering if anyone uses mods on this and has it working without the game freezing or crashing???If so, I would gladly if someone would help me out! I’m struggling to get this to work. Also, What am I supposed to keep and delete in game files and EA files??

Hi Rachel for Window 10 you place Sims 2 CC and Mods into the following folder.
assuming you use the default in this installer it will look something like the following

      “Users(Your User Account)DocumentsEA GamesThe Sims 2Downloads”

if you go directly to your Documents Folder then and then into the “EA Games” folder you will probably see there is no Downloads folder if so then just create it and place the content within
Sims 2 is meant to create the folder when you turn CC on in the settings in game, this does not always happen. as was the case in my installation.
      Good luck and Happy simming.
PS this works, I tested it as I was replying

You have to create a download folder because it’s missing. Im not sitting Infront of computer so I’m trying to remember from memory. Go into Documents and ea folder (I think that’s what it’s called) And once your in the Sims 2 folder, create new folder called downloads. And viola. You’re ready to put cc and mods in there.

am i allowed to delete the setup-1 and setup-2 in the game files? both are 3 gb each, and i have a small amount of space on this laptop, so i’d like to have as much storage as i possibly can. thanks!

Yes! You are, once you have the game downloaded to your device of choice, you are welcome to delete the setup file. Its actually recommended. But make sure once you’ve deleted it by dragging it to the recycling bin to clear your recycling bin completely.
