yo i have ts2 ultimate collection on origin but have uninstalled it and want to get it through this because origin is a shitshow. ive extracted all the files and have deleted what files remained from origin yet when i try to begin setup, i get this error message everytime:
‘An error occured while unpacking: archive corrupted! Unarc.dll returned an error code: -7
ERROR: archive data corrupted (decompression fails).
how do i solve this?? ive tried deleting my old ts2 files thinking they were getting in the way of set up but im still stuck…

this game is only available on Windows, if you have a Mac computer you can run Windows through Bootcamp and download the game. That is currently what I am doing in order to play the game and I can always come back to my original mac software.

Y’all need to have patience lmao, it took me a few minutes to boot up my first game, after that, everything went smoothly, the only problem I have so far is that I can’t seem to find the mods folder

In Documents -> EA Games -> The Sims 2, you must create a new folder titled ‘Downloads’. It is case sensitive meaning you need to include a capital D. That will be your mods folder.

The game works perfectly for me anyways. However I’ve been trying to download custom contacts and after I extract the files the Renoir and I put them in my downloads folder it’s an Internet browser logo rather than a folder. Can anybody help me am I doing something wrong?

Right-click on the file, select Properties -> Security -> Edit… -> Add… -> Write ‘Everyone’ in the box (case sensitive), check the Full Control box and then Apply. You should be able to save changes after then. If that doesn’t work, I’m pretty sure you can move the file to your desktop, make edits, then move it back to where it was.

This wont even let me download the game.. It keeps saying network error, I’ve restarted my computer and everything. Unless I’m doing something wrong? I’ve tried to download it via the first link as the torrent link wont even load anything at all.

Same thing happened to me, but I just clicked on the failed download once again in order for the download to restart and it immediately worked (it didn’t even load anymore, only straight up downloaded). So it went just fine

run the sims 2 logo, and it just changes my resolution to something crazy small and nothing else happens. freezes the screen and I have to force quit in task manager (which says that it’s immediately not responding.)

That’s because the game is made for older computers, and back then monitors were way smaller. You need to edit your Graphics Rules.sgr file. It could be in Mansion and Garden if you’re running it without a launcher, however, if you’re using the Lazy Duchess launcher you will want to look in Pets. First, open the file in Notepad, hit Ctrl & F to find, and type in screenmoderesolution. There you will find the default and maximum resolution sizes. You can change all of those to the resolution of your current monitor. You should probably also enable smooth edges, which is done by hitting Ctrl & F, typing in enumeratemultisamplelevels, and changing all of the ones with ‘false’ next to the keyword into ‘true’. If you can’t save it, try moving it to your desktop to make the edits before moving it back.
