Game Description

Viva Piñata is a 2006 life simulation game developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. The game revolves around the player tending to a neglected garden in Piñata Island, in which different variations of piñatas must be bred whilst fending off disruptive interlopers. The project was headed by Gregg Mayles and the team behind the Banjo-Kazooie series, based on an idea from Rare co-founder Tim Stamper. Microsoft wanted the game to become a key franchise for the platform, and developed a tie-in television show to accompany the series. Viva Piñata was released in November 2006.

How to play on Windows

  1. Download the “Viva_Pinata_Win_ISO_EN.zip” file from the link above.
  2. Download “Games for Windows Live” from here or from here. Install it after you download it.
  3. Open the downloaded .zip file and extract the “Viva_Pinata_Win_ISO_EN” folder to your desktop. You will need to use a software such as WinRAR to do this.
  4. Open the extracted “Viva_Pinata_Win_ISO_EN” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.
  5. Mount the “OGD-Viva.Pinata.iso” file to an empty disc drive. To do this, you will need to download a software such as PowerISO or Daemon Tools (right click on the file and there you should see your options to mount the file).
  6. Open the mounted disc drive and then run the Setup.exe file.
  7. Go through the game setup (just click on next or the word which has the > symbol next to it) and finish installing the game.
  8. Launch the game – when it asks you to create a “Live Games” account, select “Games for Windows Live” and then create an account. You want to try to create a local account.
  9. Enjoy the game!

    One GFWL link doesn’t work and the other doesn’t download. I tried downloading GFWL through ooking it up and that didn’t work either. Any way to run this without GFWL? Or is there

    the setup stopes responding, i follow the wait chain but when i close the one that’s not responding the rest also close so i cant finish this wtf

    If you have an issue when you can run the setup but nothing happens do this.

    Go into your Task Manager, right click the installer and click “Go to Details”

    Right click on the Viva Pinata task that says “Not Responding” next to it and click on “Analyze Wait Chain”

    End the task that it says is causing the problem and click on the logo on the toolbar.

    I downloaded the file then got Daemon tools and mounted the file but after I have done that it stops responding and nothing happens.

      The same thing was happening to me… Sadly, I think I am just going to wait a few months or so to see if this gets fixed. Please share though if you were able to figure it out!

      Hey, I followed the tutorial you linked, but I dont see any option to save the game. Did you manage to do it without games for windows?

    the viva pinata game works but i cant save the game because of the GFWL wont let me log in this pops up when i try

    For everyone who is saying they cannot save because they cannot make a windows live account, there’s a work around to it. You’ll need to create a local account, which is just an ordinary account but offline. Good luck!
