Beam Breakers is a 2002 action game developed by Similis Software and published by JoWooD Productions.
BeamBreakers takes place in a New York City of the future, where all traffic is confined to defined lanes between the skyscrapers of New York. The guide beams prevent uncontrolled lane changes, forcing a dronelike movement throughout the city. You are a member of a gang that drives illegal races against other gangs while avoiding capture by police. Illegal passing by changing lanes and daredevil stunts against a tremendous volume of traffic increase the tension. Fly by well-known New York landmarks and see new structures like a giant vertical traffic circle or a roller coaster in Central Park. Each gang has its own unique style with car design and insignia. As you advance within your gang, you'll get access to better and faster vehicles.
