About Pacific Gunner

The Pacific Theater serves as the backdrop for Pacific Gunner, an Infogrames title in which players man static gun emplacements, as well as those aboard naval vessels at the forefront of a war between the U.S. and Japan. Utilizing an array of artillery onboard each vessel, players will engage the enemy in missions throughout the Pacific, including such historic locales as Pearl Harbor and Okinawa. Viewed from a first-person perspective, players will man machine guns, howitzers, and destroyer deck guns as they stave off wave upon wave of enemy aircraft (including Kates, Vals, and Bettys). Scuttle gunships provide cover fire for allied beach landings.

Players are able to switch between gun turrets at will and, by using the onscreen radar to pinpoint the location of enemy units, can ascertain which emplacements should be manned at any given moment. Ammunition levels and the state of each turret should also be carefully monitored during combat. The title sports a branching mission structure, with players' progress charted via the use of country-specific flags that designate successfully completed missions. Score is accrued based upon the player's performance in each mission.
