The concept of the game is to save a random group of people stuck on an island, a desert or another remote location. By using what the nature has to offer, the player can, for example, use a leaf to make clothes or wood beams to make a shack.
Survival: The Ultimate Challenge gives computer game players a chance to test survival skills in the wild without having to go through the inconvenience, sunburn, or bug bites of actually being marooned. In each of seven different 3D settings, you control a brave band of stranded castaways through the difficulties of survival and rescue.
Game challenges are largely defined by each scenario's environmental settings, ranging from tropical wilderness to arctic wasteland. Natural resources (plants, animals, fruit, and rocks), as well as supplies that may have washed up on the shore, are utilized to give castaways sustenance, create shelters for protection from the elements, craft weapons and tools, and ultimately build a means of escape, such as a signal fire or raft.
Castaways have specific characteristics used in accomplishing various game tasks. You must constantly monitor and address each character's individual needs, ranging from the practical (such as food, water, and sleep) to the social (maintaining each player's "Hope" level for maximum productivity). The interface allows for independent control of each character, allowing you the ability to coordinate each castaway's actions for the good of the group.
