1. Pause your antivirus/windows defender
2. Right click on start.exe and click on properties. Go to the “Compatibility” tab and then:
3. Check the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and
then select “Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” in the drop down menu.
4. Check the “Run as an administrator”
5. And then click on “Apply” and then click on “Okay”. Now double click start.exe again and see if it works
I tried this, it loaded for a few seconds, I thought it finally worked, then the loading circle disappeared and nothing happened.
Instead of using “Start.exe”, you need to open up the folder called “SETUP”. Then you run the application called “Setup” that is in that folder, then I was finally able to install. There is a video that has been posted in this comment section a few times. Other than installing the game the way I just told you about, follow the the steps in the video in this comment thread and you should be good to go.

And if you’re not seeing the “exe” file extension, it’s because you need to make it so that your folder will show file extensions. At the top of your folder there’s a “view” tab, click that, and to the right you’ll see “file name extensions” with a checkbox next to it. The default graphics card doesn’t support thousands of colors
When I run the game it is incredibly slow. Using windows 10 w/ compatibility mode and as administrator. Any ideas for the serious lag? I don’t remember it taking this long to complete just one action way back when…I finally got it closed and reloaded, and other than a few seconds on switching neighborhoods, it seems to be running just fine.

2.-the other file is the exact same sequence of numbers, but after the sequence it says “HD_INSTALLER_05.bmp
mine says that that file had already been installed, but its not downloaded and i even tried using the “erraser” app, but nothing changed
