I’m getting an error message saying “The Sims 2 has not installed on this system, or some required files have been deleted. This expansion pack requires The Sims 2 before attempting to run this application.” after clicking on the icon that is on my desktop after installing everything. I’m guessing the icon is the actual game because it says the sims 2 ultimate collection but that message keeps popping up and I cant even open it or anything, just the message shows up when I click on it.

dumbass question but how do i move it to an external drive bc i tried and it just broke the game in like 3 ways lmfao and every tutorial says “use the origin steam etc launcher to do it automatically :)!” is there a tutorial somewhere…

I’m trying to setup the game, but this thing keeps popping up. Should I be worried?
“An error occured while unpacking: Unable to read data!
Unarc.dll returned an error code: -6
    ERROR: can’t open file”

The instructions told me to extract everything to desktop, could that be the reason, or did i screw something else up??

all drivers are current but I’m still getting the DirectX error. I downloaded the Graphics Rule Maker but can’t find the application file (I tried navigating to the correct folder and also typing in the location)

Graphics rules maker should run in administrator mode by right clicking at the shortcut and press run as administrator

The Sims 2 is in Mr DJ folder, not the classic EA Games folder.

    Update 3 April 2021
    1. If you installed and can play the game correctly, I suggest you to use 4GB patch. Basically this is an app that will allows TS2 to use 4GB Ram or more. This will make your game more stable and reduce crashes about 60%. Here is the tutorial: https://bit.ly/2PovvYu
    2. Backup the setup file somewhere on your D:/ drive, because to be honest, Desktop isn’t the suitable best for keeping files. Or, if you have a big flash disk (32gb or so on), backup the setup there.
    3. Backup your save files every week or so, because if anything bad happened, you can restore the save files. This is maybe the oldest advice here, but yeah, many people still don’t know about it.
    4. Update your Graphics Card driver if you have “Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c….” problem. Make system restore before updating.
    5. My “How to install Sims 2” tutorial development is suspended. Instead, I will make small-sized tutorial in my Blog. Sorry for the inconvenience.
    6. I think @osab left this forum. So yeah, follow my tutorial instead. I knew this is somewhat forcing, but for now only me that is active.

Open Notepad (run as administrator), then press Ctrl+O and select the files. And edit it, then save it. It should work.

What? Your download may be corrupted. Do you see .rar file in there? If not, deactivate your antivirus then redownload

Why do I have to delete my EA Games folder in my documents? I play Sims 3 and Sims 4 and they are in this folder.

The Sims 3 and Sims 4 should use a folder titled “Electronic Arts”. This is not the same as a folder titled “EA Games”.

Thank you, I am German which means my folders sometimes have different names so I guess this created my confusion 🙂
