The Sims 2 is a 2004 strategic life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to The Sims. The game has the same concept as its predecessor: players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life.

ive followed the instructions but after launching Sims 2.exe as administrator, it gives me an error telling me that the sims 2 is not compatible with windows, and zooms in my screen into a tiny square in the middle, with tiny black bars on the left and right. is there any way to fix this?

Hey! Everything worked perfectly but when I ran the game it had buggy graphics (the contrast was high on the sims faces in the create a family screen and all the shadows were all dark black and there was glitch bars.) How do I fix this? I tried compatibility troubleshoot but it didn’t do anything. (I’m on a windows 10)
Update: It doesn’t work now, when I click it, it gives me a cross error message.

Thank you sm for the help! The black shadows are fixed but the cheat didn’t fix the flashing blue boxes. I created a .cheat file ane added in this cheat (while also deleteing tumbnails and setting settings in game to medium). It’s still there :”/ I also tried Graphics Rules Maker and it said I needed Intel(R) Graphics family and when I clicked ok it said aborting project (I have NVDIA and tried downloading this but it said my system doesnt reach the minimum requirements.) I really really appreciate the help! I just really need to remove these flashing boxes.
can you provide some screenshoot of the flashing blue boxes? Also what are your system specs?

Hello again I hope you’re well! Thank you so much for helping me out! Now I got a new weird problem unfortunately 😭 So the glitch started again but I fixed it (mostly) with graphics rules maker (there are only glitches when I zoom in and stuff and in build mode). Then I downloaded a mod (a lot from mod the sims) and made a new folder in the directory to put it in. Now the sound in game is really quiet! Like I don’t hear sound effects or much of my sims talking. Even the opening sounds strange. Is there a way to fix it or should I avoid mods altogether and should I do something about the minor glitches?? Tysm for all the help!!!
Edit: Okay fixed the sound! It was my headphones!
glad you are fixing the sound problem yourself! in terms of the sims 2, you absolutely need mods, especially the one who prevent corruption 🙂 CC should be fine though.

Got the game up and running, everythings peachy except theres no sound and the sound options icon is grayed out and cannot be opened.

Hello i tried to fix the resolution but after i tried to save the changes to the graphics.rules.sgr it said i don’t have permission to change it
copy it to desktop, edit & save them. then drag back to the original places.
