The Sims 2 is a 2004 strategic life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to The Sims. The game has the same concept as its predecessor: players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life.

I downloaded and played this often a couple years ago. I tried to play again today and it will not open for some reason? I tried running as administrator and deleting cached files. Please help 🙁

I was having the same problem – the solution i found was to run it on windows 95. Right click the icon and go to properties > compatibility and run on windows 95 🙂
Refuses to run properly. Starts to run, messes up the graphics, and I wait but… eventually goes back to desktop with previous resolution and closes. :/
I’m having a problem when I right click on “Sims2.exe” and select “Run as administrator” it says that there is a newer version available and then shuts down

how can I play it in 1920×1080 resolution?
I’ve installed it on my Windows 11 laptop. Even though it marks it as a virus, the file looks safe to me even though the installer tool looked a bit sus. Also I didn’t have to mount anything, I unpacked the zip and hit setup.exe in the file. It was a pretty smooth experience. Love the old nostalgic game!
Im on windows 11 and after i run the game it opens the program compatibility system and it says that the app cant run because it causes security or performance issues on windows. I was able to play it normally last year, while I was using windows 10, but now this happens. Does anyone know how to fix it?
