Game Description
The Sims 2 is a 2004 strategic life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to The Sims. The game has the same concept as its predecessor: players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life.
Publisher description:
The Sims 2 is the next generation of the bestselling PC franchise. For the first time, players control their Sims over an entire lifetime from womb to tomb. Every choice you make has a relevant and dramatic effect on the life of your Sim. More life-like Sims, all-new gameplay and the ground-breaking addition of genetics gives players a more vivid and in-depth Sims experience.
Guiding your Sims through “Life’s Big Moments” takes on new importance, as players now get a “Life Score” to measure how well they are playing each individual Sim. The decisions that players make throughout the lifetime of their Sims now have an impact on their long-term success or failure. A choice made as a toddler has a direct effect on the teen and adult Sim they become. Will players be able to successfully lead their Sims through such important events as a first step, first crush, or marriage proposal, all while the clock is ticking?
The Sims in The Sims 2 are more aware and responsive to both other Sims and their surroundings. Sims truly come to life expressing moods and feelings through more realistic body animations and for the first time facial animations. They form complex relationships and are able to distinguish between family and friends, platonic friendships and romantic love. Sims in The Sims 2 now have DNA. Passing along physical characteristics and traits to their offspring, Sims both resemble and behave like their ancestors. As in real life, the appearance of the Sims now changes over time. In addition to getting older, a Sim that spends too much time on the couch will develop a paunch and a Sim that works out will enjoy rock solid abs.
An entirely new 3-D engine makes the world of The Sims 2 more life-like and dynamic. The Sims 2 will also introduce an all-new “Create-a-Sim” feature. This allows you to customise the facial features of your Sim with a few simple clicks, to a level of detail never realised before. In The Sims 2, players are now able to build dwellings over two stories and have the ability to coordinate and customise the homes of their Sims to a new degree of design with all-new furniture, lighting and objects.

If i want to change the resolution it is saying that i dont have the permission to do it?
how do you change the resolution
It keeps randomly crashing all the time. :/ should i uninstall and reinstall?
hello! this may all be an issue with the fact that i’m stubbornly trying to install ts2 onto a macbook without using bootcamp or anything like that, but i’ve gotten far enough to be able to run the setup. after that, ts2 doesn’t appear in my applications file but i was able to find a file called “sims 2.exe”, and when i try to open that it seems as if it’s about to open the game but then i receive this error message:
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/eb0dcfd7b2898baaeff9a24d9107e0efd15f3f41d9ee4e228b176537f5f6c125.png
does anyone know how to fix this, or is this a lost cause due to the fact that i’m using a mac os? thanks!
Whenever I try to install, it tells me “Please insert disc: 1 with Setup-1.bin” And I have no idea what that means, but whenever I try to press anything nothing will happen.
drag the game files into local disk C:. it worked for me.
Ive redownloaded the file over and over again and it’s still not showing up with the files its supposed to have. Yes, its downloading as a RAR and idk how to change that, and Yes I downloaded WinRar and it’s still not letting me do anything.
Are you able to get mods for the game? Or will they not work?
How do I play just the regular sims 2 story mode and not Mansions and garden stuff????
That’s a different game. You need either Sims Life Stories and/or the playstation 2 edition. PC sims 2 does not have a story mode.
Go to the collections folder and remove the expansion packs and stuff pack you don’t want – I’m guessing
Hi, i’ve downloaded the game but when i want fix shadow and resolution, i can’t modify that. I can’t save the txt graphics Rules (because i need a admin) and i can’t change shadow in the game. Please help
I’m not sure if you’ve found a solution yet but try right clicking the graphics rules file and click run as administrator. I’m afraid I don’t think you can fix the shadows so you just have to turn them off but there are mods which can help the issue but no official fix.
It downloaded as an RAR file and I have no clue how to open it or what do next. I followed all directions, not sure why it’s RAR instead of a .zip file.
Please help.
I’m not sure if you’ve found a solution yet but the reason it’s a RAR file instead of a .zip file is because it has been compressed as such with WinRAR. You’ll have to download WinRAR to extract the files.
where do i put mods, i tried putting them in the main folder but it didn’t work. (Yes I enabled CC and named the folder “Downloads”.)
For people having issues on Windows 10, try everything in this thread: https://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=6881
and use this tool to update the game files so that it recognizes your graphics card:

Your game should now run smoothly, so happy simming!
Hi, my Sims 2 game keeps crashing i have literally tried everything and it never works. Please help me out here…
Hi I followed all the steps in the video but there aren’t any neighborhoods, there’s only a button to create custom neighborhoods and when I click that is says to place my SimCity 4 files in the Terrains folder. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
the game works, but whenever i change something in the setting (like changing the resolution) if i click the setting option again, it will go back to default like nothing changes. can you help me fix this? i changed my resolution but it will go back to 800×600
