How to play on Windows
Note: The game might not run properly on some Windows 10 systems, in these cases you will have to use Windows XP or 7.
I followed this youtube video how to do so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkvR70y63R4
and how to add the a game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M37716l4XI
unfortunately, it so small huhuh because it’s an 8bit game. It works i just don’t know the work around here yet.
It won’t work if you try to open it from the shortcut. My windows 95 is also on 256 color bit mode so it looks fine, might not on 16 bit mode. Also if you can’t see the exe at all on the disc you need to change your windows 95 file settings to unhide all files.
Hope this is helpful to someone!

It’s the emulator I have problems with! I’m on Windows 10
I followed this tutorial to setup Windows 98 Second Edition on VMware workstation 15:

This tutorial doesn’t include SciTech Display Doctor which is needed to get DB2 running. Here’s my screenshots of the display drivers that I used. There’s many tutorials on YouTube with how to get this installed. Most Windows 98 SE virtual machine tutorials include how to do this.

The Download on this site seems to be the same as the one from Archive, they both crash at startup. Don’t bother with either.

Unfortunately the only working copy I could find is in Spanish, but you can use it to test if the game works until we can find a working English copy.

The Game will likely never be able to run on windows 2000 onwards, because there’s a serious crash when entering the maze in modern versions of windows. Just stick to Windows 98 Second edition (NOT first edition).
I had way too many errors on oracle virtual box to bother recommending to use that. I do play DB1 on there and many other XP based games. But it was too tricky with windows 98.
Anyways I hope I’ve helped in anyway. If anyone has a working English copy please share it with us. I got to finally play all 3 Detective Barbie games tonight which was so nostalgic. Hope everyone can easily play this game as well!
