    How to play on Windows

    1. Click on the download button. It should redirect you to your download. Make sure you download the file properly and that your internet does not disconnect while downloading.
    2. While waiting for your download, make sure that you have a software called Daemon Tools installed on your computer.
    3. Extract the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder to your desktop.
    4. Drag the folder to your C:// disc on your computer.
    5. Open the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.

Instructions for The Battle for Middle Earth 2

    1. Open the folder called BFME2 and then the folder called BFME2 Installer. Inside the BFME Installer folder, you want to double click on the file called AutoRun.exe and the installer for The Battle for Middle Earth 2 should launch. Go through the game setup – at some point they will ask you to insert a CD-key. Use any one of these and finish the installation:
      • HNB3-GRYM-GLUS-HKTU-Y9V8
      • XLWW-55XX-5MB8-Q6QJ-5JAP
      • 42FP-FQES-GW72-MT37-MCGQ

      • ATK3-5TTF-9HJH-3TRW-2F8F
      • M9NN-6NWW-5VRB-5KLN-EVV3
    2. If you run the game now, they will ask you to insert a CD so it will not work. What you have to do, is open up the software called Daemon Tools and then select add a new drive. You want the virtual drive to be “SCSI” and then select “Add drive”. If this part is a bit complicated, watch the video below and you can see how I did it for clearer instructions. You then want to drag the “MI-BFME2.mds” file (it will be 9KB) into the empty drive on Daemon tools. Note: If Daemon Tools doesn't work, then use WinCDEmu.
    3. The next step, is that you want to go back into the folder called “Game Files”. In here, you want to open the “Options.ini” file (double click it). You will see a line of code which says “Resolution = 1920 1080”. You want to change these numbers to the resolution of your computer, and then save the document.
    4. Next, you want to click on your start menu and then search for %appdata% and you want to click on the %appdata% folder. This is usually C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming. Inside this folder, you want to find the folder called “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files”. You want to open that folder, and then you want to copy, and then paste, the “Options.ini” file from step 3 into the “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files” folder.
    5. You can now run the game from the desktop shortcut, and the insert a CD message should go away.
    6. Enjoy the game!

My Only recommendation is that you have someone try and open the game before going to %appdata% because originally ”My Battle for Middle Earth 2″ file wasn’t under %appdata% until I opened the game and chose Run as Admin. After that the “My Battle for middle Earth 2” file appeared and then I was able to successfully run the game.

Thank you soooooo much you revived a missing piece of my childhood. God bless and God Speed

I tried the Admin as you mention and still not showing the folder “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II” in the AppData\Roaming at all. Can you help?

I’m having this same issue even after “Run as Admin”. It is not showing up in %appdata% folder, can anyone recommend how to fix? Thanks

Doesn’t work </3 The autorun already asks for a cd before installing. The installer wants the cd to be inserted into the same slot as the hard drive that the installer is on (E: in my case). Daemon Tools and WinCDemu both cannot mount the cd to the E: slot, because that's where my hard drive is. I cannot find a way to make the installer look for the cd in a different slot. I would love to play this game since it's one of my favourites, but I'm afraid this is not something I can fix on my side.

I just did it today, make sure you do this step for some reason this fixed it when I tried again.
      3. Extract the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder to your desktop.
      (4. Drag the folder to your C:// disc on your computer.)

I cant get the bfme2 folder to show up in the app data folder, only thing I can think of is im attaching the witch king files to the wrong drive? Idk if the letters matter. It did seem weird to put the witch king files in the drive when I hadnt gotten that far yet had only followed these instructions of bfme2 not the expansion, any help would be appreciated!!

I can’ get it to work, the issue is that WinCDEmu won’t make me a drive F, which is what the the program wants the ‘disk’ to be in

Just installed it on a machine with Windows 10 and it seems to be working fine. The autorun executables did not work until I moved the installer files to the desktop (as someone astutely pointed out in the comments below). I also used IDE instead of SCSI when mounting each image with Daemon Tools Lite. In addition, the settings folders in %appdata% were not present until I tried to run each game (original + expansion) at least once. Neither version successfully launched until I added the Options.ini file to the respective folders.

I follow the instructions to the letter, but when looking for the ‘My Battle for Middle-Earth II’ file (and RoTWK file) they just don’t exist – I try to launch the game while skipping that step, and the game does not launch. I don’t know what to do from here.

I got the game to work. But once I start up a skirmish-map, the graphics are all screwed up. Besides that the match stop instantly saying “You defeated the enemy”.
    Any suggestions?
