How to play on Windows
- Make sure you have uninstalled all older versions of The Sims 2 games, including registry entries, and make sure there is no “EA Games” folder in your Documents folder (if you do then delete it). Also make sure that you disable your antivirus before installing the game.
- Click on the download button and download The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.rar
- Extract the “The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection” folder to your desktop. If you don’t know how to extract files, see this article: https://oldgamesdownload.com/wiki/install-games-on-windows/
- Open the folder called “Game Files” found inside of the extracted folder and double click on the Setup.exe file. Click on install and wait for the game to finish installing.
- Go into the Redist folder and install “dxwebsetup.exe” by double clicking on it and going through the setup.
- There will now be a Sims 2 icon on your desktop! Right click it and select run as administrator to run the game (always run the game as an administrator).
- Enjoy the game!
Installation notes:
- This is a repack of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and includes almost all game’s expansion and stuff packs (important: a few packs are missing such as IKEA Home Stuff. You can download and install these packs separately.)
- The first time you open the game, it will take some time to start and you might see a black screen for a while. It will also skip the intro video, please be patient, next time it will launch quickly!
- Change ‘Shadows’ from high to either low or medium through the ingame graphics options , otherwise a black square will appear underneath your Sims instead of indoor shadows…
- If you can’t change the resolution of the game from 800×600 to another, read ‘Resolution change.txt’ textfile provided in the “Game Files” folder. If they are asking you for administrator permission, then move the file to your desktop, make the changes and then drag it back to its original folder.

I’ve followed all the settings recommended and the game still continues to crash, I cant select a world without it crashing, any help? Thank you
Have you tried using the NTCore 4GB patch? That what solved it for me

I do not know who replaces the old file with the new one, but it was absolutely a horrible move. The new version does not include all the games.
Can I install this on a separate empty drive?
installation was going good until it prompted me for the CD-ROM. I’ve searched through every file in the folder, but I can’t seem to find the code. Does anyone have any suggestions?
pessoal, finalmente eu consegui rodar na wine… kkkkk não to acreditando cara… depois de uma bela dor de cabeça e tentando dia e noite fazer isso funcionar na desgraça do linux, bom… eu consegui… vou ensinar direitinho a vocês, caso esteja com esse erro “Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! The application will now terminate”, vocês façam o seguinte…
baixem o winetricks, claro… caso estejam tentando rodar o jogo pela wine, mas se vocês não sabem baixar o winetricks no seu linux, coloquem esse comando “sudo apt install winetricks” relaxem porfavor que isso não é um comando que vai destruir o pc de vocês, ok? bom, terminaram de baixar o winetricks, vocês abram ele pelo menu do linux, depois vai aparecer o menu do winetricks, beleza… quando aparecer o menu normal, por padrão vai está selecionado essa opção “select the default wineprefix” se não estiver, vocês selecionem ok? fizeram isso, agora cliquem em “ok” e vai aparecer outra parte do menu com varias opções, vocês tem que selecionar a opção “install a windows DLL or component” ok? fizeram isso, agora cliquem em “ok”. Agora aqui é que começa, bom… depois de aparecer varios pacotes ou “package” vocês vão direto la em baixo e procurem o pacote ou “package” chamado “dxvk”, depois de achar os milhares de dxvks kkk vocês selecionem esse dxvk “vulkan-based D3D9/D3D10/D3D11 implementation for linux/wine (1.5.1)” se não funcionar, tentem o “vulkan-based D3D9/D3D10/D3D11 implementation for linux/wine (1.5.)” ok? bom, agora é só selecionar e clicar em “ok” e pronto, é só esperar baixar tudo e agora é só abri seu lindo e chato pra crlh de fazer funcionar the sims 2, espero que tenha ajudado a todos que estão com essa dificuldade de rodar o the sims 2 via wine 🙂
cannot locate folder where i have installed s2 UC to change resolution. game crashes bc i cant find it, to change it
alguém porfavor pode me dizer como fazer esse erro parar? toda vez que tento iniciar o The Sims Ultimate Collection, aparece esse erro
“Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! The application will now terminate” eu não sei o porque isso aparece, eu tentei instalar o directx que vem na pasta do game, o redist e quando eu tento da erro de instalação também, não funciona sabe? se alguém porfavor puder me ajudar, eu vou ficar muito agradecido de vdd. Eu uso linux mint, uso a wine pra poder usar os programas e jogos do windows.
Bonjour, j’ai téléchargé les sims 2, fais toutes les instructions pour que le jeu fonctionne, j’ai même réussis à mettre le jeu en français, quand je le lance c’est bien ça fonctionne mais quand je vais dans Créer un sims et que je clique pour créer mon sims le jeu plante et me dit qu’il y a une erreur, je ne sais pas quoi faire. Est ce que quelqu’un peut m’aider ?
